Music Monday on a Tuesday : Feist

I am a huge Leslie Feist fan and her long awaited album dropped today (yesterday in Europe). This morning I read an interesting interview of her over at Pitchfork that made me like her even more. I enjoy not only the way she sings, but also the way she thinks, she seem so authentic and legit. I will be listening to her new album Metals as I unpack more boxes today. Music Monday : Cyril Käppeli aka Cee Roo

I hope you had a fantastic weekend, I took a spontaneous break on Friday and barely got on my computer all weekend, a nice little break that sometimes you've got to do.










Here is something for Music Monday, imagination and creativity mixed with music. Cee-Roo aka Cyril Käppeli from Switzerland is a multimedia genius creating the most ridiculously rad mash ups. He mashes together rock, soul, and hip-hop etc. everything from the Beatles and Bob Marley, to live mixes of James Brown, Jackson 5 and more, pretty mad genius. He are are a few of my favorite clips. Music Monday : The Cinematic Orchestra

Over the weekend I watched Ingredients, an interesting film about the local food movement. The film gave me a different perspective while at the Farmer's Market when splurging on a variety of yummy heirloom vegetables. It made me respectfully happy to give money directly to those hard-working famers. In the film, I was also struck this particular song, it gave me goosebumps, it is called, "To Build a Home" by The Cinematic Orchestra. It is a great one, hauntingly beautiful great.

A few weeks ago I shared my summer wish list over at A Cup of Jo which included the self-titled album by Alexander Ebert (the lead singer and songwriter for Ima Robot and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) and yippee I recently purchased it and it is doesn't disappoint. Music Monday : Lover Lover

Lover Lover is a new to me, and I am really digging their sound and vibe. Musical friends Eleanor Bodenham and Martin Craft both from London decided to collaborate and they've made some music that it is quite brilliant. I hope you will like them too, they will be a huge hit -- I feel it! Listen to a few of their songs here and see if you agree.





What they say on their facebook page sums them up perfectly:

Music Monday : Jonny

I hope you had a nice weekend yes... my computer is back hooray! It was nice and quite refreshing to have a couple days offline and to be disconnected especially since last week was a bit crazy. Do you ever have unplugged or technology free days? I dare you to try it sometime, even for just a day ... no phone, no computer, tv, no other electronic devices... could you do it?




As for Music Monday, here is a video I came across recently and enjoy, I hope you do too. It is chill music from the band called Jonny. Find the song and album here or here*. I am drawn to the beautiful nature scenes and horses. My daughter is also kind of obsessed with horse movies like the Black Beauty and The Black Stallion lately. (They are both excellent, if you haven't seen them. The cinematography in the Black Stallion is breathtaking.) Happy Music Monday!

Music Monday : Mt. Desolation

Check out this fun video from Mt. Desolation that plays around with polaroids. Mt. Desolation is an alt-country side project of Keane's Tim-Rice Oxley and Jesse Quin. According to Babanuki films which this song Departure was directed the line up includes members from Keane, Noah & the Whale, The Killers, The Long Winters, The Staves and Mumford and Sons.

On Babanuki's vimeo page it also states that the artists recorded themselves on video cameras and were brought together in this video clip. Pretty rad, huh. What do you think? Happy Music Monday!

Music Monday : World Order

With all of the creative music videos out there lately, I feel like I'm saying this more often, but seriously... this is a really awesome Japanese video for the band World Order it brightened my day instantly, and I hope it will for you too. The choreography and editing is off the charts insanely cool and intricate. Created by Genki Sudo this guy has a interesting resume for sure... fighter, essayaist, musician, actor and dancer etc. Have you seen the other videos they've done like World Order in New York, and Mind Shift.
